Woodlands is the place to go if you want good Indian food. The service is excellent, the courtesy indescribable. The take care of you in an amazing way. I wish I could taste each and every dish. Not to forget the cleanliness in the toilet too.

I’ve been a loyal patron of Woodlands Restaurant for years, going back to their original spot in Ruwi. They recently moved to a new location, and on my recent trip to Muscat, I made sure to visit. True to form, Woodlands didn’t disappoint! For starters, we ordered the Chilly Chicken, which was packed with flavors—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfectly spiced with just the right balance of heat and tanginess. One of our friends decided to try their Masala Dosa, which arrived with a generous selection of chutneys, each one bringing a unique kick to the dish. For the main course, we went for their Beef Fry, also known as Varutha Irachi, paired with fresh, fluffy appams. The beef was exceptionally tender and rich in spices, with a depth of flavor that was truly mind-blowing. The appams were soft and perfectly complemented the robust taste of the beef, making every bite unforgettable. For dessert, we indulged in a combination of Gulab Jamun and Malai Kulfi—a delightful way to end the meal with its rich, creamy sweetness. The restaurant has done up the new location beautifully, offering a warm and cozy ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The staff were friendly, attentive, and added to the overall enjoyable experience. The food was so tempting that I returned on the same trip to order the Masala Dosa myself, after seeing my friend’s reaction. It was crispy with a flavorful potato masala inside, and the chutneys just took it to the next level. Overall, Woodlands remains a gem in Muscat—amazing food, top-notch service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic flavors and a memorable dining experience!

From the 90s when I was in Muscat and recently returned back to visit, the food, the staff and the decor is amazing. So lovely to live back beautiful memories

I had a veg thali and my colleague had a non veg thali . Food was good with good service and the atmosphere. The charge was 3 for veg and 3.5 for non veg . They also served naan and puri with thali meals and you can ask for extra . Overall it’s a nice dine in for a lunch . They have an alcohol menu along with the food menu 😄. I think this is the only restaurant in Oman where you can have alcohol with your meals.

Visited this place recently, and while the name carries a certain reputation, the overall experience didn’t quite meet expectations. The pricing also feels too steep for the value provided. Food: Must-Try: The Appam was the highlight of the meal—perfectly cooked and a standout among the offerings. Could Skip: The Karaikudi Kozhi Curry was disappointing. It was overly spicy, and the chicken pieces, served on the bone, may not suit everyone’s preference. Moreover, the chicken lacked tenderness and didn’t seem fresh. The Chilly Chicken were decent but far from exceptional, it was served on the bone which is usually not the case elsewhere. Ambiance: The initial vibe is pleasant, but the atmosphere becomes dull after a while. The unusually tall table heights make dining challenging, particularly for families with kids. Service: Service left much to be desired. The staff seemed more focused on pushing starters, often delaying the main course. During the meal, it was difficult to find servers when needed, which disrupted the overall dining experience. Overall: The Appam was the only redeeming feature in an otherwise underwhelming experience. With overly spicy food, inconsistent service, and ambiance challenges, there’s room for improvement to align with the name’s reputation and the high pricing.
