The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, Bali

Our stay at The Westin Ubud has been beating our expectations since the moment we arrived. It’s a 10/10 experience. First, we got here 3am in the morning and the front desk proactively offered to extend our stay at our check-out date. Second, we participated in a cycling tour led by Bagas, who not only showed us breath-taking sunset views while cycling, but also introduced our great Indonesian culture and religion. On our way out, he sent us a frame with pictures he took as a gift. Bagas is the best staff we met and we wish him the best in his career at Marriott. Thanks so much, Bagas!

The prefect place for relaxation. The hotel staff are amazing! The breakfast has to be best on the island. Service level is of a super high standard, admittedly not perfect, yet they aspire to be better, they welcomed feedback and insisted for honesty. Great swimming pool with swim up bar. Bar man on the day Whyuh recently joined following trainee period, and now a great asset to the team. Thank you Westin Ubud. Above the rest!

I recently had the pleasure of staying in one of the Suite rooms at the Westin, and I would like to share some feedback to help enhance the guest experience. The suite was nearly perfect with just a few adjustments needed. For instance, I suggest replacing the Dacron pillows with goose down ones, as the current pillows do not match the quality suggested by the beautiful pillow covers. Considering the Westin brand, the discrepancy is noticeable and somewhat disappointing. Additionally, the soundproofing in the room requires significant improvement. I could clearly hear noise from the corridor, as well as bumping sounds from the floors above and next door. This is not up to the standard expected from a 5-star Marriott property. The breakfast was enjoyable, though I have experienced better at other Marriott hotels of similar level. I also noticed that many staff members appeared to be trainees, which was evident in their approach to greeting and serving guests. With some additional training, service quality could be enhanced considerably. My favorite spot was the lobby bar, but I observed that staff awareness could be improved. Guests should not be left without a greeting or menu offer for more than 30 minutes. Overall, the hotel is worth trying, especially for families, given the suite’s spaciousness. However, I would not recommend it for couples seeking a romantic getaway.

Overall, I was very satisfied. All the staff were kind, and I truly felt warmly welcomed. In particular, Guest Experience Expert Ms. Tatia was extremely friendly and attentive. Thanks to her, my impression of not only The Westin but also of Bali has become very positive. Thank you.

The Westin Ubud is a nice and relaxing property with great rooms. Overall, we enjoyed the stay, but the service experience was mixed. Surprisingly, the front office staff fell short compared to the rest of the team. Check-in was not properly explained, and even though we arrived later in the evening, we still had to wait. They didn’t come across as friendly or approachable, which was unexpected at this level of hotel. On the other hand, the bell desk staff were the friendliest and most helpful throughout our stay. The real highlight was the breakfast manager. He was attentive, professional, and a true asset to the property. Special orders at breakfast were also excellent. However, the rest of the breakfast team was below average, with service not matching the standards we expected. One more point worth noting: the resort offers a complimentary 30-minute photography session, but they don’t explain upfront that you need to pay to get copies of the photos. This could be communicated more transparently. Overall, the hotel itself is lovely, but the service especially at the front desk has room for improvement.
