The Fifty Sonesta Hotel New York

The location is great! We were only a few blocks from our subway stop, and it was an easy and pretty walk to the Times Square area. The room was clean and spacious. The doorman was SO friendly and even hailed a cab for us. Our only issue was the AC did not work well, but the front desk brought up a fan immediately. So with the fan and cracked windows it wasn't too bad (in April). I would definitely stay here again on another visit to New York!

I gave this hotel 4/5 stars because although we had some issues with the room, the service was top notch. Really appreciated the doormen—they were so friendly and hospitable. The location was perfect too—close to many cafes and easy walking distance to many things. The rooms could use an upgrade, but overall we had a nice time.

This would be a 2 star review if it weren't for the attentive front desk, doormen (especially Romeo), comfortable beds, and amazing house keeping staff. Another review mentioned being unable to control the in room thermostat. Well we stayed 5/23 - 5/25. Just returned home and we also couldn't control the AC setting in our room. It was 77 degrees the 1st night and I was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. We also experience very noisy patrons in the hall from 2-4am. There was no air fan/vent in the bathroom so the bathroom stayed wet to moist after showers. Our safe stopped working after the 1st day. Overall, the staff would be the only reason we would return.

Just come back from a 5 night stay, after reading the reviews on other sites I was a bit anxious if I've did the right thing booking this hotel, but as soon as we walked in every member a of staff was so helpful and polite which put me to ease. We had the junior suite lovely and spacious and clean, as long as the room is clean I'm happy, beds were so comfortable and soft. I would recommend this hotel. Thank fifty sonesta for such a memorable stay.

Unable to turn AC on with temps in the 80°s. It was 76 in our room the entire time so that made it very uncomfortable. They brought us a floor fan which didn't help and said they don't turn on the HVAC until May. This is the first time I've ever had this experience at any hotel in NYC and should have been disclosed. Patrons running up and down the halls until 2-3am slamming doors and the front desk did absolutely nothing even after multiple calls. It was known which room was making sll the noise but they wouldn't even ask them to keep it down. The beds were comfortable so that was great but still had sleepless nights due to the neighboring patrins. Aside from the very friendly doorman, customer service was basic, did not appear to be a priority and they don't even ask how your stay was. Only one person at the very small disorganized front desk so when you need assistance it takes awhile. There's a daily $10 credit for the snacks at the front desk but they just write down room number and items selected so anyone can report anything to any room without a name or verification. Rooms and decor are very basic but our housekeeper was great. Great location but honestly this is the first hotel I've ever stayed at that I really wouldn't care to stay again. I checked out over 10 hours ago and still haven't received my folio. All of the things I mentioned are very basic details to fall short on, especially with all the options in NYC. All in all disappointing compared to any other chain, boutique and luxury hotel I've stayed at.
