La Pergola

Passed by La Pergola for a dinner for 2 on a Friday night. On arrival, we enjoy a warm welcoming from a friendly receptionist. We were taken to our seats and seated by a professional man. We ordered the traditional vegetable soup, lasagna, and a grilled hammour. The food was all excellent in taste and especially the soup. We received complimentary bread and cookies, all of which had excellent taste and texture. The vibe of the venue was very cosy. The prices were reasonable but do not include the taxes and service charges, so whatever is on the menu, you need to expect a 25% hike on the bill. The waiter Agwin and the manager Nigel did an excellent job servicing us. Overall, highly recommended

Seems like the cooking has regained its former luster under the latest (current) chef, İ inquired, if İ recall correctly, Vakhit, who, İ assume is İndian. Gone are chef Massimo and the less-than-stellar Giancarlo, who, well before Covid, contributed to a noticeable decline (sorry to say) in quality and taste in the dishes on offer at this venue. İ obtained great service from Giuseppe and his colleague. İ ordered vitello a la milanese and two portions of spaghetti bolognese. These dishes were entirely to my satisfaction. As a follow up, İ ordered linguini seafood. İ enjoyed that but the portion of linguini was insufficient and İ made the mistake of not asking for the clams to be deshelled. İ always cook clam with the shells removed. They were very small and it was difficult to dig out the flesh from the shell. So dark inside that İ ate inadvertently with the shell only having to remove it from my mouth -- regrettably, a somewhat uncouth process. [Pink sauce was good with the seafood linguini but İ can make better.)))] Enjoyed a limoncello and a lemon with mint romtop off the meal. Skipped dessert. Probably better as İ had enough calories but really was not tempted. Really would have liked canoli, tortoni or a pastry stuffed with sweet ricotta. Thanks to Giuseppe for helping me navigate the current menu (soon to be updated and simplified). An entirely pleasant evening and fine meal but the live flute music struck me as being wholly superfluous and hardly better than "elevator" music. (İ found it to be even a bit funereal.) İf there has to be music, İ would prefer to hear upbeat songs in İtalian with some vitality to them like Toto Cutagno's "L'İtaliano." (Of course, it wouldn't need to be live music but music befitting an İtalian ambiance.)

A great night out with the girls in La Pergola Italian Restaurant . Parking was easy and there is valet parking if you can’t be bothered. The ambiance was nice and calming. The complementary bread rolls came with black olive spread which was alright. The Lasagne portion was more than enough for one person. The pizza was well baked. And finally the tiramisu was magnificent! It was delicate, delicious, and moist. Offer used: Ladies Night 50% off on Tuesdays

This restaurant was good but not great. The atmosphere was nice at first but I think it was really dim inside (there was a man using the flashlight on his phone to read the menu) The food was good but not amazing and I thought it was over priced. I got the cheese ravioli and I think it was about 7BD, in my opinion too expensive for what I got. Nothing was bad, but I am not drawn to go back again.
