InterContinental: Doha – The City

I’ve stayed at the Intercontinental The City for a couple of long rotations recently. I have to say this hotel and the staff are excellent. As a member of IHG, with executive lounge access I have been very well looked after, the chef, Abdullah makes a great fresh breakfast and Thinn, one of the waitress / hotel staff in the lounge always there to help out. Overall a 5 star experience, I’ll be coming back during my next stay.

We got the chance to stay for more than a month in the apartment. A special thank you to Ms Nisha who took care of our unit. She was very professional and passionate when it comes to her work. It was a great experience for our family as we are new to this country. Thank you to all the amazing staffs in ensuring everything works well. Thanks again. (room 1901).

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Intercontinental Doha, and I must say it was a great experience. The room was absolutely huge, with a stunning city view that was a treat to wake up to every morning. The hotel itself was well-maintained, with clean and modern amenities. The staff were friendly and efficient, making sure our stay was comfortable and hassle-free. Overall, I would highly recommend the Intercontinental Doha to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay in the city. The huge room with a city view was definitely a highlight of our stay.

Stayed there for two nights. Rooms are the Intercontinental standard. Staff were welcoming and attentive. I'd say that the location is not premium. We had two orders of room service and I was not impressed by neither the taste nor the price. One of the orders was a breakfast. Very limited variety on the Arabic breakfast compared to the price. Same goes for the breakfast buffet which we tried the last day. The restaurant atmosphere was not good. Again, I was not impressed by how the food tasted. In summary, everything was great apart from the food. Would I stay there again (that's my criterion for how good a hotel is); I may consider other options (especially considering the prices).

We booked two nights at the Intercontinental City Hotel Doha, expecting a 5-star experience, but it was far from that. On the first day, everything seemed fine—we even watched a football match on beIN Sports. However, on the second day, the channels were suddenly removed, and we missed the Barcelona game. We contacted the front desk for assistance, and they sent two staff members who were unable to fix the issue. Their only explanation was that the IT team wasn’t available. It’s shocking that a hotel of this caliber couldn’t resolve something as simple as providing a sports channel, especially in a region where football is so popular. To make things worse, at 11 AM, an announcement blared through the hotel warning of a fire and instructing all guests to evacuate using the stairs. I was on the 31st floor, panicking while rushing down, only to find a hotel staff member waiting downstairs, laughing, and casually informing us it was just a drill. There was no prior notice, no warning, and no apology for the unnecessary stress. When I asked why they didn’t inform us beforehand, the staff member simply said they put up a paper notice somewhere. For a hotel that has no problem calling to remind you about check-out, they could have easily informed us in advance. We were considering extending our stay, but after this experience, it’s definitely not worth it. This hotel does not meet the expectations of a true 5-star service.
