Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York by IHG

I recently stayed at Hotel Indigo for our annual company winter party, which was held at the rooftop lounge, Mr. Purple. My room was upgraded to a king on the 24th floor and the view was absolutely stunning, especially during golden hour. The room was cozy, the shower was perfectly hot, and waking up to that skyline honestly felt inspiring. Mr. Purple had great drinks and the food really surprised me, the sliders and fries were so good. I did try the in-room breakfast and that’s the one thing I’d skip unless you truly don’t want to leave your bed. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe of the hotel felt fun but elevated. Perfect for a quick NYC stay and I would absolutely book here again. 10/10 recommend.

The hotel boasts a prime location in the Lower East Side, offering convenient access to the subway. It is the closest hotel to renowned establishments such as Katz's Delicatessen and Russ & Daughters. Its proximity to numerous bars and exceptional restaurants makes it an ideal choice for both leisure and shopping. For those seeking a vibrant nightlife experience, the hotel features one of the area's most popular rooftop bars/clubs, Mr. Purple, which offers impressive views and an excellent selection of beverages. While the service was commendable, please note that a resort fee of $41 is applied. This fee includes a $10 credit for room service, a $10 credit for the in-room mini-bar, two 30-minute Citi Bike passes, and 100 minutes of international or local calls. A potential drawback to consider is the noise level on the 12th floor when the club or rooftop bar is operational. Guests sensitive to noise may prefer a lower floor. The hotel offers remarkable views, including sightlines of One World Trade Center and the Empire State Building. Parking in the vicinity is quite costly. We recommend utilizing services like SpotHero, where daily parking can be found for $30 within a 15-minute walk, or $50 for an 8-minute walk. Parking within a 1-minute walk can range from $70 to $100 per day. The hotel rooms were found to be clean and comfortable.

A very nice hotel in the middle of the lower east side, the check in process was very easy and all of the staff was friendly. When we arrived, they did not have the room that we reserved available, but they did provide a complimentary upgrade. The only issue was that the upgrade was 4 floors below the onsite club. I didn't think it would be an issue but it was very loud at night. I can only imagine if you stayed any higher than floor 11. This location is in walking distance of Katz deli and some other great eats. I would not consider this a kid friendly location, especially at night.

Positives: The location is great and the decor while a little dated in its attempts to look “edgy” was still fun. The staff were nice for the most part. Beds are comfy. Nice views. Quiet in our room on the 8th floor. Good shower pressure. Room needs painting and tiles replaced but on the whole was clean and well presented. Spacious with good closet space and an iron. No bottled water but NYC water is fine. Negatives: heat didn’t work in our room. It was freezing and made a loud rattling sound so we barely slept. Staff did offer to have someone take a look at it but we got in at midnight and had already unpacked and gotten into bed by the time we realised so we asked for blankets (only thin sheets on the bed no duvet and no blankets in the closet). They were nice and brought us some but they were thin crochet style blankets like so not particularly warm. We barely slept. There is no refrigerator in the room. You can order one subject to availability and luckily they did have one for us which was good. The restaurant is being refurbished so you have to go to the club to get breakfast. It was very nice though. Also be warned even when there is no pool, and despite NYC law preventing hotels in the city adding hidden fees, this hotel still charges an “amenity fee” when they send your final receipt so the card you give them for deposit is actually used to debit and extra $50

Short story: first night hell, second night okay Long story: you'll see a lot of reviews complaining about the noise from the club, HEED THEM. We were on the 12th floor, the club is on the 15th, and we could hear and feel (like reverberating) the music until 4am. We got zero sleep. There was also a light from the fire alarm or c02 thing blinking the whole night. And our window was at a 90° angle from the adjacent room's window, so we had to close the blinds. Also the bathroom was not clean. And there were dents on the walls, broken light cover, broken shade pulley. Also we could hear a washing machine or dryer running nearby on and off throughout the night. We heard rumors that a new owner is putting all the money into the club, instead of maintaining the hotel. We don't know if that's true, but based off of our experience, we'd absolutely believe it. That said, the staff were fantastic. As soon as I asked to change rooms, they acted surprised... and said they had placed us in a quiet room originally. It definitely felt like a bit of an act. But, it was very easy to change rooms to the 8th floor. The new room was bigger, cleaner, had a nicer bed, and was completely quiet. They were quick to bring us toothbrushes when asked, find us an umbrella, and store our bags. This is coming from someone who lived in NYC for 10 years. So I am used to noise and small rooms. So don't come at me. Moral of the story: ask for what you need. Or make it easier, and don't stay here.
