At-Turaif World Heritage Site

I was really amazed by visiting this place. So beautiful and massive historical side of the Riyad city surrounded by the green parks and valleys. It was very interesting tour inside the old city with visiting all the pavilions and galleries. All the information you can find in English and Arabic. The staff is very helpful and hospitable. The atmosphere of the place is so calm- there were no queues, no crowd. And we visited it during Ramadan 2025 (March) so the weather was very good and pleasant to have a long walks.

It’s rich in history and culture. It’s a mudbrick buildings and narrow alleyways transport you back in time, offering a glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s heritage. The area is perfect for exploring on foot, with charming cafes, with great night view. If you are into history, the museum and guided tours provide fascinating insight. You can learn a lot of history about Saudi Arabia. In the night the ambience is magical with stunning lighting and culture performances! You can use your admission fee in any restaurant or cafe in the same district!

I love the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and this did not disappoint. It was an unusually wet evening but that did not stop not only us but a plethora of others going to enjoy this stunning site. Beautifully and intricately restored, this site is so interesting. You get a very real sense of the old Riyadh. From military history to traditional dancing and modern light shows this site has something for everyone. The site hires many Saudi youth to help you navigate the site, they are helpful and polite, effortlessly switching between Arabic and English and eager to share their rich history. You get a sense of what life might have been like in old Riyadh through this site. The site at night is elegantly lit, which adds to the atmosphere overall. The artefacts have been carefully curated with explanations in both Arabic and English. Don’t expect to spend 15 minutes at this site. It’s a place where you need to wander, soak in the history, mingle with the locals and marvel at architecture. There is so much to do on the rest of the site, games, musicians, gardens to stroll through, the list is endless! The aesthetic has been carefully designed throughout. I would recommend though that you ditch the heels, the castle is steep and not a place that is heel friendly! Flat shoes are highly recommended here. You have to book in advance to access the whole site. However if you enjoy one of the many restaurants, the money gets taken off your food bill. You will want to wander round the site as it is so stunning and will absolutely want to enjoy a coffee or mint tea at one of the many outlets there.

Amazing experience and one of the best renovated historical sightseeing I ever visited, you will have an amazing journey walking through history in the old narrow paths and jumping into museums that shows you the old values and history of this charming city, make sure to visit the sites before sunset to enjoy the color changing with the sunset and see the magical lighting at night. There is a coffee shop in the middle of this area with light installation in front of it on the historical walls. Another nice experience is the Bateel café terrace with a view to the valley and the Bujairi terraces
