The Westin New York at Times Square

Very nice Manhattan hotel in midtown. Clean and great service. Room was fantastic size. Very comfortable. Shower pressure a little weak but not too bothersome. The lobby is a bit basic but serviceable. Convenient walking distance from key midtown locations. Strong recommend for NY, NY.

had a great stay at the Westin Times Square. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well taken care of, and the front desk team was excellent—friendly and helpful throughout my stay. While I haven’t stayed in every NYC hotel, this was my fifth different one, and it truly stood out as one of the best. Having lived in NYC before, I can say the location is excellent and very convenient for exploring the city. Several hotels in NYC look old and muggy, this place was great. If I had to point out areas for improvement, I’d say the gym could use an upgrade and the restaurant prices felt a bit too high. That said, overall my experience was very positive, and I would happily stay here again.

We had a great room. Newly renovated corner room. It was clean and a great view. But on check out day (today) house keeping came in at 10am. I hate that. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves and just an invasion of my privacy. Check out is 12 noon there is no reason for house keeping to come in 2 hours before check out. I thought I heard knocking I wasn’t sure as I was naked in the bathroom but when I saw the time I thought no way then the door opened as I was naked and exposed.

The location is great if you’re looking for the touristy spots. Very convenient to broadway and Times Square. We had a junior suite with a “skyline view”. The view wasn’t spectacular but the room was fairly large. It was clean and comfortable for the most part. I was surprised that there was no refrigerator and when I asked I was told they could bring one up for an additional $20 a night. Didn’t seem worth it and felt a little nickel and dime. It was nice that they give you some perks for the $40 fee that is charged and we also had the breakfast buffet there which was pretty good. Lots of good options and better than your average hotel breakfast buffet.

There was a front desk staff member named Edison, a middle-aged white male, whose attitude was extremely poor. Payment System & Front Desk Attitude: During check-in, the payment system malfunctioned. Instead of actively helping us resolve the issue, the responsibility was pushed back onto us, the guests. It was only after I used a third card that the payment finally went through. My Bank of America credit card has never encountered such a problem elsewhere. Front Desk Behavior: While processing my check-in, Edison was joking around, chatting, and hugging his colleagues, leaving our check-in unattended. He clearly lacked the professionalism expected from a five-star hotel front desk. I was left concerned whether this could have been influenced by possible racial bias—whether a middle-aged white male might have been showing discriminatory behavior toward Asian guests. I also wonder if he would have shown the same attitude toward well-dressed investment bankers holding meetings in the hotel’s conference rooms. In stark contrast, there was a female staff member from a minority background whose service was outstanding. She greeted us with a warm smile, provided thorough explanations, and even offered thoughtful recommendations about our assigned floor. If it were not for her excellent service, I would have undoubtedly given this hotel a one-star rating.
