InterContinental New York Barclay by IHG

I LOVED my stay in this hotel! The person in the reception was incredibly friendly and treated us so nice! They recognized my diamond elite status and gave me access to the Intercontinental Club Lounge where they offer complimentary breakfast, drinks, gelato, food and coffee! The only underwhelming thing was the breakfast eggs, for a hotel this level I was expecting fresh eggs in the buffet options and the ones they served were clearly mix / box made eggs and tasted weirdly. But on the happy side they have the options to order freshly cooked eggs, so that was a plus! Overall incredible experience, the location, the building and the rooms (even they can feel a bit small) were perfect! Will happily be back!

I had a very pleasant stay. The location was excellent and made getting around the city very convenient. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. My room was clean and, surprisingly for nyc, very quiet—which made for a restful night. Overall, nothing to complain about. I’d definitely stay here again.

My mother and I stayed at the InterContinental New York Barclay during New York Fashion Week. The hotel is in a very central and elegant location, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We did encounter a small issue, but thanks to Mr. Dominic, it was quickly resolved. We are very grateful for his assistance and delighted to have met him. He truly ensured the rest of our trip went smoothly.

This is the worst nice hotel I've ever stayed in. When we checked in, we were told there was a $200 incidental fee per night. We thought we had surely misheard, but it really was an extra $200 per night on top of the room rate! I have no idea what sort of incidents could cause $200 worth of damage per day! They give you a $30 credit towards room service, hotel food, and minibar (breakfast is excluded). A bottle of water in the room fridge costs $16! And there are no vending machines in the building, so make sure you buy your water beforehand. Along with that, the fridge in the room is so stocked with their overpriced drinks and alcohol that you can't properly use it for leftovers or your own drinks. The rooms and lobby are super nice, but this whole aspect felt very scammy. In terms of service, we only got 1 roll of toilet paper in the room, so when I had an upset tummy, we had to call and ask for more. We were informed the response time is 20 minutes! So I was stuck in the bathroom for 20 minutes waiting for toilet paper. The location and cleanliness are great, but I won't be staying here again due to their money-grabbing.

After my stay at this hotel, and after checking out and paying for everything I consumed, I discovered an additional charge of €120 on my credit card with no explanation or reason. It was not for any service or pending expense — they simply charged it “just because.” I tried to get an answer, but the lack of transparency and customer service is absolute. A hotel of this category should inspire trust and professionalism, yet all I take away is a feeling of deception and outright theft. I do not recommend this property at all and strongly warn future guests to closely monitor their credit card statements after checkout. On top of that, we are regular clients who had several reservations planned through the end of the year — all of which we have now canceled due to this unacceptable experience.
